The battery is new, the ignition switch replaced and the wiring checked for breaks, loose connections or bad grounds and the relays/switches checked for proper operation.Since one and a half weeks ago my John Deere STX38 lawn tractor wouldn't crank any more. It's about 14 years old, had regular maintenance through our local small engine John Deere dealer, including this spring. The battery shows 12 volts. The engine won't turn over when I turn the ignition switch. The gas line shutoff is turned "on".The battery must be healthy and fully charged, all connections tight and not heating up. Not sure how you have the starter circuitry wired, but if it uses a solenoid and the key switch, there may be a wiring problem or a bad ignition switch.
